So I ordered a new book:
by Linda Dillow
I'm not entirely sure I want to know the answer! (J is a saint!!!) But in an effort to be more purposeful about focusing on my marriage and making it an active priority, I'm resurrecting Marriage Mondays...with a twist!
Each Monday (hopefully) I'll answer three questions.
- Name one attribute that you are working on this week. (Examples include: respect, compassion, playfulness, generous, forgiving, flexibility, sensitivity, understanding, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, affection...) I'm writing this one word on an index card and taping it on the microwave as a reminder!
- How can you make your spouse's life easier this week? (It's not cheating to ask your spouse for help with this one!!!)
- What is one thing that you love, respect or appreciate about your spouse?
My mentor used to tell me, "You're responsible for your responses." With these simple questions at the beginning of the week, I am focusing on the positive trait in my husband as well as how to improve my marriage beginning with ME!
- GENEROSITY
- Organize the medicine cabinet that has been driving him nuts!
- His passion for the ministry he's involved in mentoring boys. He puts his whole heart into his role as group leader and communications officer. The boys really look up to him, and I can see how much respect the men in our parish have for him. It makes me so proud!
What can YOU do to improve your marriage this week?!

P.S. Thank you, Leila, for the button!!!

I'm so glad these are back! Yay!
K and I were talkin about some dear friends of our whose marriage is strugglig. It is so heartbreaking. It made me realize how much I take our great marriage for granted. K and I are bestfriends (which is great!), but I sometimes forget that I should still work on our marriage everyday. Even when it's good. This is just the kick in the pants I needed. :)
I'm going to think about it a second and get back to you on what I'll be doing this week. I think a trip to the book store is in order...I may need The No Cry Sleep Solution too. ;)
You KNOW I love this!
Love this!!! :-D I am going to have to join you.
Btw. haven't read Dillow's book, but I really like the premise.
Thanks for the reminder in the midst of bonding to baby Henry that DH and our marriage still needs attention too...
Was listening to Relevant Radio in the car yesterday and the priest asked, "Have you prayed for your spouse today?"
So that is my focus this week, praying each day for my wonderful husband...

Thanks for the positive response!! Karen- I know just what you mean. It's easy to take a great husband for granted. This is going to help me be more intentional about building up my marriage!
Kaitlin- I knew you'd like it. :)
Sarah- everything Dillow writes is awesome! My favorite- and current Bible study- is Calm My Anxious Heart. LOVE!
Carla- I was shocked at how easy it was to get swamped by baby and put husband on the side-line. Praying for husband is such an easy thing to do while feeding and loving on baby! So glad sweet Henry is HOME!!!
Hey Lauren!
I am excited about this! I might have to order the book as well. I have a book by Kimberly Hahn: Life Giving Love, Embracing God's Beautiful Design for Marriage (might not be word for word, but that is the jist of it!)
My current bible study is Calm My Anxious Heart. I love it! Brings me peace.
LOVE YOUR HEADER! LOVE IT! Seriously, LOVE IT! :)
My DH is a saint as well! I blame that on their stable hormones. No, I'm not lying. :)
Great post...
I need to work on this:
"You're responsible for your responses."
Oh, how I love this!! I am going to consult with dh on this and really get cracking!!
Love Marriage Mondays! Love the reminder to snap out of my baby-obsessed trance and pray for my hubs a little more!
