A Call to Joy

One of my new friends from my Moms Bible study lent me a book A Call to Joy by Matthew Kelly. He offers much wisdom and many practical tips of living in the presence of God. I want to share two things in particular.

1) "One thing that the Father said that affected me tremendously was this: 'Ask yourself at the end of each day, 'Whom did I treat the worst today?' That is how you have treated me.'" I have found myself thinking about this during my day. Yesterday, JC called an an inconvenient moment and I found myself being short with him on the phone. After we hung up, that question came back to me. Yikes...sorry, Jesus! Sorry, JC!

2) "Let us approach our work one hour at a time. Do it, do it well, every last minute, offering it to God for your aunt who isn't feeling well, for that friend you are trying to lead closer to God, for the Church, for your special intention... The value of this hour placed in this perspective is enormous."
"Perhaps you have a watch that chimes on the hour; each time it chimes, offer the next hour of your work to God as a prayer for a particular intention. Regardless of what our occupation is, our work can be and should be transformed into prayer."

He goes on to suggest when reading or writing, write the initials of a person you're praying for at the top of the page and offer that page for them. Such simple suggestions, yet I feel my day morphing into a rhythm of prayer and breathing in His presence.

May God bless you and each hour of your day!

Love this idea! I need to start our clock up again so that I'll hear it chime. I miss the sound sometimes, anyway, so this is one more reason to get it going.

Also, I need a Beth Moore study to do, possibly by myself, possibly with a few other moms. I've done Breaking Free and Jesus, the One and Only. You've done Esther, right? What about A Woman's Heart? I really want one that, if I need to do it by myself, will be most enriching for me, too. What is your moms group doing??
