Podcast Junkie!

I am a podcast junkie.

I admit it.  I don't really work out, at least, I NEVER "go for a run" so I never really saw the value in an ipod.  Nevertheless, my husband surprised me with one for my birthday last year and I quickly discovered PODCASTS and became addicted.

Podcasts are like talk radio or books on tape but NO commercials (or if there are you can fast-forward through them!) and you can pause it whenever you want! There are thousands of podcasts available, some free and some for a cost.  I'm sure none of you are surprised that I only partake in free podcasts!  Here are my favorites:

  • Catholic Answers Live- two hours a day, five days a week and a multitude of shows and information including Q&A, apologetics, the New Age deception (4/26), An Abortionist Turns to Mercy (4/23), movie reviews (4/9), The Church and Birth Control (4/13) and more.  I love this show!
  • Focus on the Family- Parenting and Marriage.  These are two different shows.  They typically publish 3-5 segments a week on various topics.  Each segment is 10-15 minutes and so encouraging to my heart!
  • CATO Institute: a Libertarian think-tank that has serious interviews about current events.  This is an extremely informative source of history, rational arguments and alternative viewpoints to the emotional media.  I HIGHLY recommend this show which publishes five days a week about 10-15 minutes each.
  • Freedom Watch with the Judge: Judge Andrew Napolitano hosts a thirty minute show three times a week with fabulous guests such as Ron Paul, Lew Rockwell, Thomas E. Woods, Daniel Hannon and more.  The Judge is a Constitutionalist and always offers a solid viewpoint.
  • Wall Street Unspun: by Peter Schiff is one hour every Wednesday night.  Peter Schiff was Ron Paul's financial advisor during his campaign and runs EuroPacific, a financial institution.  He was one of the few that predicted the meltdown in his book Crashproof and every Wednesday comments on the current economic activity.
  • The Ruth Institute: Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse who was a professor of economics at Yale University created the Ruth Institute to promote traditional marriage among college students.  Her podcasts are spuradic but always offer incredible insights on why and how to defend traditional marriage from both a secular and Christian point of view.
  • And more!  Including "Brian and the Judge", "The Best of Mark Davis", "The Mises Institute", "The Survival Podcast" and "Vatican Radio".  I listen as I cook, drive, walk, and clean and feel much more informed as a result!

Enjoy!!

This has nothing to do with your post, but I think you should answer this question because you are one informed, self-educated lady! oh, and because you can win $100. http://www.blogher.com/100-question-tell-cjane-how-you-stay-informed

Oh, and speaking of podcasts, Jeremy is obsessed, too. He listens to them all day at work, streaming from his computer, and of course, the free ones!

One site that we love to go to for budget date nights at home is NPR's This American Life. We eat a picnic dinner in the living room and listen to the radio show.
