Pizzas on the Grill!

Ever since I built my container garden, I've been waiting for the tomatoes to ripen and basil to mature so that I could make pizzas on the grill.  It is an involved process, but SOOO worth the efforts!

First we gathered our materials: sliced tomatoes, sliced fresh mozzarella cheese, olive oil, basil, long tongs, and a basting brush.  Actually, that's not entirely accurate.  First I made the dough!

Once the grill is fired up and hot, we basted one side of the crust with oil, then put them on the grill, oil side down.  While that side was cooking, we oiled the top side.

Then we flipped the crusts, oiled the top again, and loaded it up with toppings.  We put a disposable pie pan on top to help the cheese melt more quickly.
Here's the final result!  (Disclaimer- I did not make any of this up.  I can follow a recipe, not create my own!  I got this from The Cook's Illustrated Guide to Grilling and Barbecue, which is a fabulous, fabulous book! I love everything Cook's Illustrated publishes!)

That looks amazing! And guess what? We have the same dishes! We have Spode and my bowl is the same as yours but it looks like you have Johnson Brothers plates? So pretty!

Too cool, GIMH! Somehow I'm not surprised...

Our is Spode, too. They bring me such pleasure! (I'm trying to not use "love" with inanimate objects...the result is sometimes awkward!) Most of our Spode is Blue Italian, but we have some Albany and the Blue Room Collection, too- which is a series of six different scenes. So pretty!
