GAMES!

My hubby and I love to play games!  We play one every Sunday.  These are some of our favorites:

Ticket to RideTicket to Ride is our favorite.  It can take a while, so we have to have enough time, but it's intense!  My husband beats me almost every time, which drives me CRAZY!  I'm DETERMINED to win!  This is a game of strategy and is for ages 8 and up.  It's for 2-5 players.  It was the German game of the year and they have serveral versions, including Europe!  (We have the American version.)  The picture below shows the board after we both had super-long trains!

A second favorite is Rummikub.  It's kind of like Gin-rummy, but with tiles!  It's another strategy game.  I had to get this game when my friend Mary's son who was 5 at the time (is that right, M?) totally beat the pants off of me.  SHOCK!  It's a really fun game to play.

DUTCH BLITZ CARD GAMEWe also love Phase 10, Taboo, and Apples to Apples.  And if I can get three other brave souls, I love to dominate in DUTCH BLITZ!

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE GAMES?

Lauren, I LOVE Dutch Blitz!! I am always the yellow buckets when we play. Which one is your favorite? :)
I also love Phase 10! The funny thing is that Bill is color blind so with Phase 10 I had to label all of the cards with O for orange, R for red, etc so that we could play Phase 7 I think it is? Is that the one where you have to so many of a certain color?
I also love Life. :) Bill likes to play chess, but I am terrible at it. So it isn't very fun for either of us because I'm not challenging for him, and I get slaughtered! haha

Unfortunately, M is TOTALLY not into games. (Sigh) He like Taboo, but only if another couple is over and THEY like games as much as me. The last time we played was... before C was born. My MIL and I play Scrabble at the ranch and I love Skipbo at my parents' house. I love, love, LOVE King's Court Checkers. And any card game. Ok, I'll stop now.

My DH hates board games too, but he will tear up some Super Mario Brother! ;) hahahaha We played that game for two weeks straight until we beat it. :)

We are boring. :)

We really like BananaGrams and I feel like Jacob is learning something.  Uno is a perennial favorite.  Trouble is one I'm really ready to retire.  Thanks for these suggestions!  I may order them for Jacob for Christmas.

After what seems an eternity of Hi Ho Cherry Oh and the dreaded Candyland (I stack the deck or else that game can and will go on forever), it seems we are finally reaching the time when games with the kids are actually fun for all of us. Our favorite to play with the older girls is Qwirkle. We also like Apples to Apples Jr with them.

If it's just the two of us, we like Scrabble.

I love board games, too! I’m going to Order Ticket to Ride. I have never heard of it.

I have heard Settlers of Catan is fun, but I think it requires 3-4 people so I never bought it.

We're camping for the next 10 days and we'll definitely be playing some Tripoly. We also like to play dominoes and yueker (sp). It looks like rain is moving in here so we'll be playing some games tonight!

GIRLS!!! Don't give up hope! My husband was not a board game (or card game) player either when we first married, but I have sold him on the good, clean, (cheap!) fun that comes from games!

Megan- I SOOOO wish I could take you on in Dutch Blitz! I'm always the blue hoe- which is really a plow- but my friend Mary always made a point of calling it a hoe and we'd crack up, so it stuck.

Sew- super mario and donkey kong are super fun! It's probably a good thing that we don't have any video games around! WE'd be addicted!

Okay, a few things...

First of all, when have you ever dominated in Dutch Blitz, L? I think you're misleading your blog readers. You do make a very nice hoe, but I'd hardly say that you dominate. I think you might need to make a roadtrip to K-town to verify your claim. :)

Secondly, J was 6, if that makes you feel any better. And yeah, he can beat the pants off me, too.

Another fun strategy game is Blokus. I bet you and J would like it. It's really simple, but really fun. Qwirkle, too... even C (5)can sort of catch on and play, too.

Fun post! Thanks, L! But it makes me miss you! Come over! We need to relive some Legett love!! :)

OOOHHHHH...YOU DID NOT!!!

Them's fightin' words, M!!! I may just have to take you up on that challenge!

Don't be fooled, dear readers. I dominate. :)

You're a cute hoe, though, Lauren. And fair blog readers, be warned, Lauren has a fiesty mouth and a squinty eye when she "dominates" in Dutch Blitz.

And sometimes we just let her win because when she is happier she makes more chocolate chip cookies.
