I LOVE to visit your blogs.
And I LOVE to leave comments.
But I HATE word verifications!!
I don't THINK I'm blind, but I always end up having to type in the coded phrase two or even three times! Who wants to do that? And it's awful when I think my comment has been accepted, so I move on to close the window. Only JUST as my mouse hits the X, the screen changes and wants me to reenter the comment.
WHAT???
I've lost hundreds of comments that way. Most of the time I get so frustrated that I refuse to go back and leave another comment.
The VERY worst are those blogs that DON'T SHOW the word verification code until AFTER you hit submit. Then it pops up like a giant GOTCHA button. But again, most of the time it's too late. I've already begun the closing process and there's no turning back.
AND I'M NOT ALONE!!!
Courtney over at Storing Up Treasures feels the same way. In fact, she made a button to prove it! Here's her post ranting on the subject, and if you scroll down, you can get a button, too!
And here is the BEST article on BLOT ETTIQUITE that I've ever seen!!! Too funny! It's called Goldilocks and the 3 BLOGGERS!
By the way- it's easy to change this. Simply go to your blogger dashboard and click Settings, then Comments. Scroll down until it says "Show Word Verification For Comments?" and select NO!!!!!
***And on that note, I must ask. Is my font too light??? Would you prefer a darker or larger font?

This makes me laugh. But I'm not getting rid of word verification. I'll go private again before I do that. I've had WAY too many friends start getting spam comments when they remove word verification-- awful kinds of comments that you'd never want. I'm sure many people have no problem with this, but I'd rather not have to worry about it. I think the WV is always there on those times it "pops up" but that you haven't scrolled down far enough.
I copy my comments once I type them, mainly because out Internet is so unreliable at times and I may need to post it again if I lose connection. This helps whenever I do WV, too.
I think of it like how I bathe the kids right after we get in from being "out in the world," especially the pediatrician's office. Sure, it's a pain and would easier not to, but better safe than sorry. :)
*our* Internet... and would *be* easier... oops. I'm off my spelling and grammar game today.
I was thinking that the link to etiquette was going to be how to be a "good" reader...guess I will still have to figure that one out!
:):)
I never have been bothered by the word verification...and never thought much about until now...now that I am reading other bloggers who don't care for it. I just do the "approval" thing now.
Interesting thoughts on this subject. hmmmm....
LOVE this post!! I don't like WV (Sew taught me early on)!! I also LOVE the link to the blog etiquette article! Hilarious and I couldn't agree more. :)
Hilarious article about blog etiquette! Thanks for sharing! :) P.S. I don't have any trouble with your font color!
Like Lisa, I like your post, but am not getting rid of mine. There are way too many demons out there with my name tattood on their foreheads... my latest post proves it.
Agree with how annoying it is, but TOTALLY worth it to not get spammed!
LOL - I too am not a fan of Word Verification.
I like your font - it works on the white background.
Thanks so much for your comments on my blog today! Be sure to come back the rest of the week for the next 3 posts!
I know word verification is annoying, but the thought of indecent spam bothers me more. I would actually love to remove it from my blog, but I dare not.
You asked about your font. I do think the blue is lovely and serene (blue being my favorite color) but I think somewhat darker would be easier on the eyes.
I found your blog recently and I am watching eagerly for the arrival of your baby boy. I'm so excited for you.
God Bless.
