(I had this scheduled to post the week Abigail was born. After I realized it had posted, I pulled it off, seeing as it was not appropriate! But I really would like your input, now that things have calmed down a bit!)
What to do with this boring wall?
What to do with this boring wall?
- I've considered just painting this one wall. (I hate painting.)
- I've considered getting letters and spelling something out in the top 1/2 of the wall- like "family" or something.
- I've considered stenciling the names of God on it. But that sounds beyond my capabilities.
- I've considered getting curtain panels and draping them from the top in that typical window fashion.
But I have no confidence in my vision and/or decorating ability. HELP!!!

I love the giant mirrors IKEA sells. I put 4 in my kitchen (big empty wall) and they add so much light! I would fill the wall with one or two - or perhaps a giant piece of artwork! 'Keep us posted!
Now that you have an adorable baby (and you'll have lots of pictures of her with family, etc.) you could take picture frames and go across in a line with them above the table. I did this on one wall in my kitchen (there's a picture on my blog under "decorating" and then kitchen.) If you are motivated, you could paint it and then find a matching table cloth/vase. Yes, let us know what it ends up looking like (that is if you have time to work on it now...) ;)
I have no input (I can't decorate), but if you have to paint, I don't mind painting so I could help. It would be a nice break from the boys.
Just show me pics of that baby! ;)
I think a large piece of art would be nice or a collage of family photos with the three of you! :) :) :)
ditto Sew's comment.
:)
I completely forgot about this post that was scheduled!!!! HA HA HA!!!!
I agree with Grace in My heart- Pictures! Family pics, individual. All in similar color frames.

They're not my style, but I think they look very nice in certain people's homes... those vinyl phrases that stick on the wall. Something like this:

My next-door neighbor has a few in her house, and they really fit her home. Mine... not so much.
Get some decals! Here's why:
#1 cheap!
#2 cute!
#3 customizable
#4 removable without damaging the paint
#5 you can't mess them up like stencils
hmmm, I didn't mean to post that last comment before I was finished.
#6 EASY
#7 you can change your mind, and rearrange them or move them to another wall when you move furniture around
check out Etsy shops for affordable, cute decals!
oh wait, decals might be a little random here. I just assumed you were talking about decorating Ab's room; I didn't even look at the photo.
But decals would be great in her room!
Knowing where this wall is, I'd avoid painting it. It might make the kitchen feel very small and dark depending on the color. I love the idea about the names of God. You could borrow a projector, maybe from the library or J's work?? and use it to shine the words up on the wall, then trace them and paint them. I have complete confidence that you can do it!!! :)
I would either do a bunch of different sized framed photos and make an asymmetrical collage type deal. Or, I would get some cheap ikea shelves and decorate them with framed photos, empty wine bottles, candles, vases with flowers, etc.
OR, this (I've been dying to try to make these, but haven't yet):

Picture frames would be nice. Frames which a large matted area make a bigger statement. Depending on what the view is in the other room, a mirror might work too. Metal wall art is popular too if that's your style.
