Every day I plan to blog.
Every day I fail to blog!
Life with Abigail is so busy! When time does open up, I don't have the mental energy to dive into one of the many posts I've been hoping to write! I've been reading your blogs, but not always commenting like I normally do. Typing one handed is challenging! I'm so happy to be typing one handed!
TPR (Termination of Parental Rights)- we're moving forward! They're in the process of setting up the court date. YEA!!!
Baptism- There has been so much drama here, but we think we're going to have it December 26- Feast of the Holy Family!!! We'll have it at home so my family can attend!
HOME! Abigail and I hopped a plane and headed home to visit my family. (We survived our first plane ride!) It's been so fun for my brothers to meet Abigail. It was their first time to hold a baby! She adores them both. My Grandparents are coming over Thursday and my former mentor and dear friend, Cathy, on Friday! I'm so happy to show off my baby girl!
Colic- we had a heck of a time with colic, but thanks to The Happiest Baby on the Block, the Moby wrap, and Dr. Sears' Attachment style parenting, we are doing SO MUCH BETTER. It was REALLY REALLY REALLY rough there for about 5 weeks, but she seems to be settling down.
Other stats- Our girl is now 10 lbs and 7 weeks old! She was next to a four week old baby on Sunday and it was CRAZY how much bigger than him she is! Then again, she was next to a baby 10 weeks old today and she was much smaller than her! They change SO quickly. She is mimicking faces, smiling and cooing up a storm. She loves to cozy up to me in the Moby wrap and is finding her fingers to suck on. She is unbelievably beautiful. I'm dying to show you pictures. I'm dying!!!
Last week, someone asked me for Abigail's adoption story. It really threw me for a loop. I didn't know where to start. I ended up telling our adoption story- beginning with infertility and the twins. But that's not quite Abigail's adoption story. It's hard to know where to begin and how much to tell to a stranger. I'm really pondering this and praying over it. I'm hoping to write it soon and add it to my "Introductions" side-bar.
Hoping for some more posts soon!

re: Abigail's adoption story.
You can always share more but you can never unshare. With our little ones I'm reticent with certain details and make a point of asking that it be kept private with the few I do tell. It's natural to want to shout from the rooftops with all the wonder at how things came together. Be very careful with any detail you think would be troubling for Abigail to hear and incorporate into her concept of self. You want to be able to decide how and when she learns something. You don't want her to hear it from a source other than yourself, however innocently it may happen.
By all means, tell your story of the rollercoaster ride you took to her. It's a testimony to your faith and God's everpresent love.
I'd love to read more on your story.
Lots of good news!
I am so gonna steal this as our baptism date if possible-love it!
Yay! :)
Oh thanks SO much for sharing these details! I have been wondering about how things are going, and am SO happy to hear things are progressing smoothly on all fronts!!
We understand how hard it is to blog with a new babe, right now she is probably requiring all your time and attention. Things will fall into a nice routine soon enough and you will be back on the blogs during those nice long naps she'll be taking:):) Sometimes I find that blogging (even if its only reading others blogs) gives me a much needed mental break.
Oh - and I HATE unsolicited baby advice -- but we didn't realize L had reflux until 4 months into it ... I just thought it was colic. But it was CRAZINESS!!! I am starting to wonder whether more babies have reflux than we ever knew. Just something to think about ... our pediatrician usually is great but totally missed this until I was in her office in tears. If you find that nothing is really working, reflux meds might be worth a try.
Great post! We've missed reading you but TOTALLY understand!!! Thanks for the update, and God Bless your little girl!
love that you posted today. i totally understand about not blogging. i haven't done so since sept and don't plan on it for a while.
love all the great news!
Soooo happy for the update!!! Sooooo excited about the baptism!!! And, I would love to hear the adoption story!!!
Missed you, but I totally understand!!
As a frequent reader (but seldom commenting) of your blog, I'd like to 2nd what Maureen said about sharing. I think it's important to remember that our kids' adoption stories are "their" stories to tell....IF they choose to tell them WHEN they are old enough to hear them, process them and understand them. That being said, I personally have felt comfortable sharing certain details...just not all of them.
Blessings!
Maureen and Char- thanks so much for the advice and words of wisdom. You are absolutely correct. I will take your words to heart as I pray over A's story.
Love me some Happiest Baby on the Block!
Glad you are so busy and adjusting! I love Dr. Sears and go back to his books often (even with an almost 4 yo and a babe on the way).
Babies can be such a mystery sometimes but I'm so glad you are finding things that work!
Thanks for the update! So glad to hear all the good news. When y'all get back in town, please come visit me if you get a chance! I'd love to see you all!
Claire has her 1 year old check up tomorrow and I am anxious to see how much she weighs. I have been doing the non-scientific "stand on the scale with her, then without her and compare the difference" and she seems to be about 17 pounds.
Wonderful news! Congratulations and so glad things are moving forward with your baby girl!
Hooray! I think of you often, and I am so happy for you!! :)
I am so so glad things are moving forward!! I can't wait until you can share pictures!
Oh, and as far as adoption stories go....we share very little about our kid's situations. Our daughter is old enough now, that when someone asks me a question in front of her, I can just turn and ask her if she is ok talking about it right now. I notice that really makes people realize that if they aren't comfortable asking the child directly, they probably shouldn't ask me either (especially is said child is within hearing distance!)
I love it when we find that groove! I'm so glad to hear things are going well. And how great that you're getting to travel home some! Like you said, they grow so fast. I love that my family got to see Caleb when he was so little!
I love picturing your brothers holding their first baby! So sweet for you and Abigail to be home with your family!
Just awesome Lauren! I am so very happy for you AND for that precious bundle that has found an amazing new mommy in you! Exponential blessings indeed. Happy pink lint collecting! Enjoy!
I ADORE that picture of Abigail's toes with your wedding rings, so precious Lauren! Is the termination of parental rights that long in other states too or is this a Florida thing? How long does it take?
