Interview

I. AM. SO. EXCITED!!!!!

I have another radio interview opportunity.  And THIS time it's with...ARCHBISHOP DOLAN of New York!!!!

What a hero in the hall of faith!  I'm so honored for the opportunity to speak with such a humble and holy man of God.  He wants to know more about our adoption story- the trials and joys- and how we relied on the Lord throughout our journey.  We're taping the interview tomorrow (Tuesday) and it will air several times:
  • Thursday, June 30 at 1pm ET
  • Saturday, July 2 at 6 am and 1 pm ET
  • Sunday, July 3 at 9 am, 6 pm and 12 am ET

The producer was kind enough to volunteer to send me the recording so that I can publish it on the blog.  If you want to catch it live it will be on Sirius 129 or XM 129.

Fun in Radio-land!

Today was the big day for my radio interview!  I felt fancy going to the studio and having my own microphone.  Turns out, a microphone is much more intimidating than a phone!  When I spoke to Gus on the Gus Lloyd Show, I forgot I was on the radio and felt like I was speaking to a friend.  But there's no mistaking that you're on the radio when you're in the studio!

Still, I liked the mike!  Unfortunately I didn't understand the format of the show and so was not clear when telling others about the opportunity to hear me.  Local Catholic radio stations are having their spring fund-raisers, and to help them ETWN promotes the local stations with special guests.  Therefore the hour was divided between the national office and local office.  The *big-name* speaker (what, that's not little ol' me?! :)) had the first twenty minutes and I had ten.  Then they had ten and we had twenty.  So when people tried to listen and heard ETWN they thought I wasn't going to be on the air and turned the station.  Then in the middle of my last segment, the station lost its signal and we got cut off.    Double rats!

But it was a great opportunity and loads of fun.  Abigail enjoyed it, too!  Special thank you to my neighbor, Jenny, who got up early and entertained Abigail during our time live on the air!  You're the best, Jenny!
I like having a microphone!

A little of this and that

PRAYER BUDDY REVEAL!!!
I discovered a new blogger!  I had the privileged of praying for Tess at The Lighthouse!  She has an excellent writing style, whether telling funny stories or revealingly insights into prayer.  Tess, I prayed for your relationship with the Lord, growth as a writer, and vocation as a wife and Mom.  I prayed for healing with your Dad's passing and that you find a solid, insightful spiritual director.  I hope and pray this was a Lent of much growth, and look forward to reading more of your posts.  It was very difficult not to comment while reading, but I didn't want to give myself away!

ABIGAIL'S FIRST EASTER!!!

"Thank you, Aunt Melissa, for the beautiful Easter dress!  I'm so glad Mommy was able to squeeze it on me! "

ANOTHER RADIO OPPORTUNITY!!!
Our local Catholic radio station invited me to spend an hour with them on Wednesday morning to talk about my blog, our fertility struggles and adoption story!  It will be Wednesday morning from 8-9 CST and you can listen live HERE.

I have not forgotten about my series on the Power of the Tongue.  We're still nursing Abigail back to health and I haven't had the mental energy to continue!  But continue I will!

Many Easter Blessings to you!!!  Alleluia, He is risen!!!

My interview!

Last Friday I had the opportunity to talk to Gus Lloyd on his radio show "Seize the Day" about our adoption struggles and success.  They were gracious enough to record the interview for me and mail me a copy on CD.  The file is too large to post on this blog, but J figured out how to post a link so that you can download it.  (Thank you, honey!)  This way you can put it on your i.Pod and listen on the go!  Click HERE!  The producer said,

"Lauren is a fantastic and very inspirational speaker.
She will truly inspire you."

The doctor called last night and Abigail does have the early stages of pneumonia.  But she slept GREAT last night for the first time in a week and that seems to have done her a world of good.  She still hates her nebulizer treatments, but does this girl look sick to you?

See how far back I have to place the sign now?

Doesn't matter.  She figured out where it was!

The Girl who Cried RADIO! And Quick Takes- Thursday style!

~ 1 ~

Third time's a charm, right?  I will chat with Gus Lloyd on his show Seize the Day at 8:00 AM ET tomorrow (Friday) about our adoption story. It will be on Sirius 159, XM 117, or you can listen online here.

REALLY this time!!!

(I hope!)

Is my font too small?  It's showing up normal on one computer and small on this computer?  When I switch to a larger font, the lines overlap.  Is anyone else having trouble with blogger formatting?

Thanks for all of the feedback on the Power of the Tongue series!  There have been several comments like the following, "Now I'm afraid to talk to you."  This is SO NOT the attitude to have!  Remember, I'm motivated and working on this out of my brokenness, not perfection!   I'm pouring over God's Word and the wisdom of the Saints to find the grace to break free of my sins!  You'll be glad to know that tomorrow's lesson is a happy one!  I think you'll like it!

~ 4 ~

Abigail, a friend and I took a trip home a couple weeks ago for a long weekend!  It was so great to be home!  We loved spending time with family and took a field trip to a local dairy farm!

Grammie and Abigail!
Lovin' the dairy farm!
She got her first two teeth on the journey and was STILL a total road warrior!  She is such a happy baby!  She has the happiest feet on the planet.  Whenever she smiles she kicks like a crazy woman!  She was twenty one pounds back home, so who knows what she is now!  (I don't have a scale!)  She's wearing mostly size 12 month but has a few 18 month items as well!  At this rate we'll be sharing clothes when she's three!

~ 5 ~
I love taking naps with this girl!

~ 6 ~
A shot *pour-er* on my maple syrup.  What does this say about me?
~ 7 ~
The Sinner's GuideI'm doing great on my Lenten resolution of no sugar or sweets.  (If sugar or sweetener is in the top three ingredients- I can't have it.)  But I'm failing miserably at my Lenten resolution to finish The Sinner's Guide.  I was supposed to read a chapter every time Abigail took a nap or went to bed.  (They're short chapters.)  I think I've read about 8 chapters since Lent began.  Ugh.  Total head slap.
