Driving down Wine Road...

When he found out we were coming to Germany, our good friend (who is from Germany) planned out a drive for us! Sunday morning, after Mass, we drove West into Southern France and stopped at Colmar. Our friend didn't tell us where to go in Colmar, so we drove around for a while and didn't see much. We were both looking at each other with raised eyebrows. Hmmm.. We decided to just park and walk around. The first place we stopped was a restaurant. Well, I guess I didn't look too closely at the sign, because they only served drinks! I drank an espresso and asked where the nearest restaurant to EAT was! She pointed us in the right direction. After a couple of blocks, the entire atmosphere changed and we were suddenly in the most charming, precious, beautiful town you've ever seen!
Pictures do NOT do it justice!
Where we ate lunch...
The Tour de France had just come through here last weekend!
Check it out! A piano shrub!
I wanted to spend the whole weekend here, but we had to keep going. We felt like we'd "discovered" this place. (Even though our friend told us about it!) It was wonderful!
It was a beautiful drive up wine road. In the South of France in the Alsace region, they have vineyards everywhere! You can stop at any of them, taste a little, and buy as much as you want! (Cheap!)

Unfortunately, we were again limited by time. We stopped at one vineyard, where between French and German, we got the point across, and bought a couple bottles of white wine.

What a beautiful town! I know what you mean about pictures not doing it justice. I always think that when I see really beautiful places.
