Yep! It's true! These are my two favorite things! I find that these two items reflect our priorities. There is nothing wrong with having a nice t.v., but while we're trying to meet certain financial goals, we are not spending a lot of money. T.V. is a very low priority for us as we hardly ever watch it, so we're sticking with this dinosaur! Who cares if we have to turn sub-titles on when we watch a movie because we can't understand the words otherwise? Big deal! :)
Where we HAVE chosen to invest in our home is our table! Isn't it gorgeous? This was my dream table (Broyhill!) and when we met our first major financial goal (getting out of debt, baby!) we stumbled upon this sale and bought it to celebrate. (And we paid with cash!)
So, instead of sitting around the boob tube (can we please bring that phrase back?), we sit and eat lovely dinners together and actually talk. It's so old-fashioned and...wonderful!
What are your favorite things in your home? Why?

Our TV is equally clunky and works just fine for us :) I don't know that I have a favorite thing, almost everything we own is used and collected from random places. We did purchase the coffee table ourselves-so I'm proud of that one!
we don't have a flatscreen either. We may get one when our current box tv goes out....but until then...the old boy is here to stay! Hmmm....I love all of our furniture (most bought new when we got married). I think our couches will be going in the next year...kind of bothers my back if I sit to long. :)
M would say the TV(!) since we DID get a digital TV, since otherwise we'd have to get a converter box or cable-- I'd rather spend money on something more permanent, and I wanted PBS for C. My 2 favorite things... the kids! Besides them, our wrought iron bed frame and C's cottage outside. Both were free, functional, and fantastic!! Love you, L!
Glad to hear we don't have the only clunker in town... :)
By the way, this post was written a couple of weeks ago and scheduled to be published today. I'm not changing moods/subjects on a dime, though the Lord is holding my heart in His tender hands and bringing me much peace.
Adam calls the TV the "devil's box".
Last year we had a lighting stike and lost monty electronics at our house, our old clunker was one of them. We went all around town looking for a used clunker we could buy at thrift-stores, etc. To no avail, we had to break down and get the flat screen, it was a painful process and we were happy with out old million pound model. :)
I LOVE the table. We eat all meals at the table and my kids would be horrified if we did it any other way, I am thankful for that. We are far from perfect but that is one thing we have instilled in them.
I love my table too! My DH found it at pottery barn for $100 and it's red! It has mis matching chairs but somehow it all matches. I love it! It's a pain to clean and I yearn for the day when I can get a new one because it only sits 4 and not the 18 like I want it too. ;) hahaha But then I would need a bigger house and a bigger eating area.
Other then that, I could live without everything else in the house except my statues and my Mary pictures. Oh and my glass ball jars. ;)
Beautiful table!! And, we have that same TV!
Still keeping your intentions in my prayers, sweets. You are a light to so many of us with your wisdom and passion. You will be an incredible mom. :)
Your TV looks a lot like our, which we got used. I love our TV stand because we made it ourselves and worked on it together (and no one thinks it's homemade unless we tell them). Most of our furniture is hand-me-downs or stuff from college.
I would have to say our table and our grill! I love fabulous food and lingering over a table! And I love enjoying both with food friends!! :):)
I'm shallow...I love our flat screen! :-) I also love our bed, it's so comfy, nothing is better than sleeping in and then snuggling with my hubby on a lazy Saturday morning. :-)
May the Lord comfort you sweet girl! My prayers continue...
After 5 days of the A/C being kaput, right now I'd have to say my favorite thing in the house is the cool breeze coming from the vents! T'was a hot weekend.
