Oil hit the beach this weekend.
I went to the beach on Friday. I usually have my nose in a book or am listening to a podcast, but my heart was drawn to prayer. As I sat looking out at God's vast creation, I kept noticing more and more wild-life. The birds skimming the surface of the water for fish. The sand-crab with one eye on me and one on his hole in the sand scampering around. It broke my heart to think of our white beaches ruined. It's heart-breaking for us, for the wild-life, but most of all for the people who's livelihood depends upon the pristine beaches or water.
As I sat reading later, a man came jogging by and told the family next to me that oil had hit about half a mile away. With a heavy heart I realized, it was here.
I went out with my camera today. Here's what I came upon as I walked up to the beach. Not bad!!!
But as you get closer, you see the white beaches aren't exclusively white...
On the left you see the little pieces of tar along the water-line.
As you can see, the tar didn't scare me off! On the right are boats that we think are skimming the surface of the water to get oil.
On the rocks and along parts of the shore they have nets to try to trap tar balls.
Keep praying for a solution and end to this!

Ugh...I hope no more comes your way! What a pretty beach. I'd love to lounge there everyday!
Oh, it's so depressing! To see a beautiful beach like that, and to know that the oil is there, and growing... Ugh. Lord have mercy.
I can't even watch CNN for all the sad birds and ruined beaches. I hope they get this gusher stopped soon. It won't be long before it's all over Florida.
