My husband and I have gone to see FOUR movies in the last three weeks. FOUR! TWO on OPENING NIGHT!!! Who are we???
One because I was having a hard day and wanted to laugh.
One to celebrate something my husband had accomplished at work.
The last two because my family was in town for vacation and they love to see movies!
So what to do with this new-found (and temporary) "in-the-know-ness" that I possess?
BLOG IT, BABY!
Except I am NOT a movie critic.
My parents rarely went on dates while I was at home, so it was a big deal and really exciting when they did. They always (almost always) did dinner and a movie. As soon as they walked in the door I'd ask how everything went and how was the movie... And my parents who are movie critics would rip the movie apart.
"I knew how it would end in the first five minutes."
"Those actors can't act."
"They took off in one plane and landed in another."
SHEESH!!!
I vowed never to be a movie critic. It's got to be BAD for me to complain! But, as it is, I really liked all four movies!
"Toy Story 3": HILARIOUS!!!
"Inception": Fabulous and VERY well done. Though it DID mess with my head a little bit... All that mental stuff is strange. Steven Graydanus wrote a GREAT review of this movie here.
"Despicable Me": Funny. Let's be honest- ANYTHING with Steve Carell is going to be hilarious. But I thought Toy Story 3 was better and made me laugh harder.
"Salt": REALLY REALLY good! This was my favorite. I'm sure there were holes, but Jolie was amazing and it was a "sit on the edge of your seat" kind of movie. Oh- and Graydanus wrote a review of Salt here.
Like I said- I'm not a movie critic. But for what it's worth I thought I'd throw it out there and note that all of these movies are good!
Let's be honest. I just wanted bragging rights. FOUR movies in three weeks.

4 movies! I’m admit that I’m not a big movie person and probably don’t see 4 movies a year, so I’m impressed!
The only one I saw was Inception (DH’s pick). I thought it was well done and interesting, but the last 40 minutes of the movie I kept checking my watch. I’d say 20 minutes of that is me and my impatience, but the rest was all the movie’s fault.
That's huge.
You deserve the bragging rights.
Last Hollywood type movie I saw in the theater?
Fellowship of the Ring
(Before kids, we did go a few times to this old time theater, the Music Box, to see documentaries and short films, etc., most of which blew chunks.)
Wow! The last movie I saw in a theatre was Quantum of Solace... in 2008. It was the first time I went anywhere without C! Mom babysat so we could have a date night. Oh, and we all saw Up at the outdoor theatre last summer. But, M and I definitely give the Post Office a workout with all of our Netflix movies.
I can't wait to see Toy Story 3. C loves 1 and 2, and we had hoped to take the kids to the outdoor theatre when it was playing but it didn't work out. Once we have a spare afternoon I need to take the kids and M out on a "double date." lol
L, not sure if you'll find this funny or just geeky, but K an I shared a giggle over it this morning: http://tinyurl.com/239aa97
We watched Knight and Day, it was very good. Good enough to add a 5th to your record there. :)
Mike and I could use a date night. We haven't had one in ages.
Will Inception give me nightmares forever?
We saw Toy Story 3 and loved it...but we had all 4 kids with us.
I was going to have a similar post (movie review) but I haven't seen as many movies as you have. Loved hearing your thoughts on some familiar titles we've been discussing around here.
We LOVED TS3 and got a kick out of Despicable Me--though on the latter one, I wish they could have done without Vector's pelvic thrusts and photocopying of the alien's butt and such. Watching that stuff with my 7 and 4 year olds just made me squirm.
DH LOVED LOVED LOVED Inception. He wanted me to go, but I really had no interest after he showed me the preview online. I'm a weakling in movies and don't do suspense well.

Ha-- they did a mash-up of TS3 and Inception. I haven't seen either, but I think I want to see this version. :-)
Loved TS3 (my husband and teen son cried!), my daughter (and subsequently most of the rest of my family) thought Inception was EXCELLENT. I can't wait to see Despicable Me, and my older ones loved Salt! The only one I have seen is TS3. Will probably see the rest on video, except I'd love to see DM soon if I can.
Jennifer and Lisa- those links cracked me up!!! Thanks for sharing!
Barbie maybe I can squeeze one more movie in! :)
So if I was going to go to ONE movie, which one should I see, Miss Movie Expert?
The last movie we saw in the (dollar) theater was The Dark Knight. Before that it was Spider Man 3.
Oh, and I hadn't even heard of 2 of those movies, which probably says something about my movie saviness. The only reason I'd heard of Salt is because there is a billboard for it in my neighborhood.
