THE PHONE RANG AGAIN!!!

LAST THURSDAY!!!

Someone has chosen us!  YEA!!!

I know, I know.  Why the silence???  I swear I felt like I was cheating on y'all by the silence!!  Here's why:
  • I wanted to protect my heart- been burned before.
  • We felt torn as to whether to agree to the match and needed silence to discern.  If I went public it would be too much pressure!
Here are the facts:
  1. She's 36 weeks along- due August 12!!!
  2. IT'S A BOY!
  3. They're local.
  4. They want an open adoption- complete with visits.
  5. They've named him, and are asking that he keep the name.
Did you notice #4 and #5?  I thought I was okay with that.  I am...in my head.  But somehow, I just felt so BAD about it once it moved from my head to my heart.  But God has been SO faithful and done AMAZING things in our hearts over the last month.  More on that later!  (In fact, I already wrote the posts on open adoptions, hoping I"d have a reason to post them soon!!)

We met with her this week and, wow.  She is amazing. She is an incredible girl.  She knows what she's doing and has thought this through.  She has the support of her family, her boyfriend, his family, and most friends.  And to her friends who say, "I could never do that..." she replies, "You  never know what you'll do until your in that situation."  WOW.  What a grace-filled answer!  She kept telling us, "I just know you're the perfect family for this baby."  She said she felt drawn to us as she looked through our profile because we struck her as "them" (Birth mom and dad) in ten years!  I love that she so identified with us!  We are now an official match, and I can't tell you how GOOD I feel about it.   I really see this working out for us!  (Just look at the label of this post for proof of how good I feel!)

So...it begins!  We are so excited and hoping we need to prepare for a little one coming NEXT MONTH!!!!

WHOOP!!!!!

P.S.  This is EXTRA amazing because it's the newest agency- who isn't even finished with our paperwork yet!!!  WOW!

P.P.S.  THANK YOU, PRAYER BUDDY!!!!!  Keep it up!!!!  :) (I'm pretty sure I have the best prayer buddy, EVER!!!)

AAHH! I'm so excited for you! My heart jumped into my throat when I read this post. You guys are in my prayers and this precious little boy and his birth mother are too!
Do you like the name that she chose? Also, I have a friend who is a marriage and family therapist, and she says that open adoptions are so good for the children, if there is the opportunity for them. She says it helps with their identity as they grow up. Anyway, praying for you!

Yay! Yay! YAYY!!! We'll be praying!!! Congratulations! The week of August 12 is the Marian feast week. It starts off with the feast of St. Dominic on Aug. 8 (the one responsible for preaching the devotion of the Rosary) and ends with the Assumption of Mary Aug. 15 (not to mention, St. Maximilian Kolbe on the 14th who dedicated himself to Mary). It looks like Our Lady is really interceding for you. :)

Awesome, awesome, awesome. How did I miss this!!!!

Do you know the name?

So happy for you. We are planning a trip to Destin next spring break, can't wait to meet him.

Mary said...

I can't wait to come meet him!! I already love him so much!! This is all just so amazing!! Love you!

I am just so thrilled for you. I have more to say, but honestly, our children (no matter how we come by them) are just on lease to us from God anyway. So many of us *think* we give our children their name, their good looks, their quirks. These all are gifts from God no matter what. So while this mother does want to keep involvement in some way, truly it is just God's involvement followed through her.

Many blessings to you! I can't believe how excited I am for you! I have that same crib, by the way. I want to just cry for you and I don't even really *know* you! ((HUGS))

Late to the party, but I'm sending a million prayers in your direction! I love that the Lord is giving you a peace about this inherently difficult and (as you pointed out) painful situation. I'm full of hope for you guys! Thanks for sharing your experience.
