Who is Blessed Chiara? HERE is a SHORT and SWEET video about Blessed Chiara "Luce" Badano. Also, Christopher Stefanik (love him!) wrote about Blessed Chiara HERE in the Denver Catholic Register.
HERE is the Focolare Movement's collection of pictures, writings by and articles about Chiara.
(Sorry, Kaitlin! I would love to write more about her...and will soon!)
I first heard of Blessed Chiara "Luce" Badano last summer, while on a bus touring through Italy. But at the time, I didn't know she was Italian! I was listening to a podcast of Catholic Answers Live and the host, Patrick Coffin, mentioned this new and upcoming saint that would have a big impact on teenagers. He spoke so highly of her and with such enthusiasm, that it really caught my attention. I tried to google her when I got home, but didn't know how to spell it and couldn't find any information.
But she kept coming back to me! I heard her name a few more times and finally found information. The light in her eyes sent a shock-wave through my soul. I could "feel" her love for the Lord. The stories of her resonated with me, especially that she wanted to be buried in a wedding dress to meet her groom. This is a girl in love with her Savior!
And how we have our precious girl. Just as Blessed Chiara's parents tried for years to conceive her, we have waited years for our Abigail Chiara. I have a difficult time relating to many saints from previous centuries and life-styles, but a modern, beautiful girl like Chiara "Luce" Badano will hopefully be a role model and inspiration for our daughter for years to come.
And for anyone with questions on what it means to be beatified and canonized, go HERE! Feel free to ask questions of the process in the comments. I may not get to it right away, but hopefully a fellow blogger can help explain! (Enter helpful bloggers here! :))

Thank you for posting this info! I love about learning about the saints of our time! Amazing girl!
I would love to find a novena to Blessed Chiara!
Maybe one of those among us would be blessed by a miracle through her intersession! I am hoping and praying for this blessing for Pray Hope Don't Worry, for their story has been 11 years too!!
God is a worker of miracles! His hope is new everyday!
Also, I have been praying so much for your precious family of 3! I know that I found little or no time to be online during those first few weeks. The moments are too precious and must be enjoyed with our full attention. And then there is the whole "sleep when/if baby sleeps" thing. I hope you are finding strength in the Lord!
first off, crazy to read Chris's name on your blog! such a small world! He worked briefly with my husband in the same curia...before he went on to Denver...anyway...We love the name Chiara, and have for a long time (after St. Claire) but now I have another reason to use it someday! (plus I am Italian :))
Absolutely beautiful! I got too anxious and looked it up-so I'm caught up now :) I LOVE that your daughter will have such a great role model as she gets into her teen years!
How exciting! I look forward to learning more about her. Do you know Chris? Maybe that's another random friend we have in common...
Beautiful!!! I got goosebumps watching that short video! Thank you for sharing! I love the name "Luce" too... What a lovely story. Have a great weekend with your husband and your adorable little Chiara!!!
I had never heard of Blessed Chiara until your sweet Abigail came to you, and now I am determined to learn all I can! What a beautiful soul.
I had never heard of her before either (and I was most certainly pronouncing it wrong - opps). What a wonderful young lady.

Great information Lauren. I can't wait to read more about her.
Hi!
I have known the focolares for a few years now and I thought that she was named after the founder, but when I saw this had been a very young girl I was very, very impressed by her life and doubly so since we were born on the same year. A true modern saint.
What a beautiful namesake.
What a beautiful name and beautiful story! Thanks for sharing the information!
