Blogs can get lost in cyber-space due to web errors or your own error. Backing up your blog is a great way to undo any damage- and it's easy, too!
- Go to SETTINGS
- The first thing listed is: Import blog EXPORT BLOG Delete blog
- Click "export blog"
- DOWNLOAD BLOG
- SAVE
- I have a folder within My Documents titled BLOG. I save my blog there and put the current date within the title. That way I know the last time I saved my blog.
- THAT'S IT. You're done!!!!! SO EASY and such a good "insurance policy"!

until your computer crashes. ;) hahahaah
I did not know this!
I didn't know this either! I will do this. :)
You should have added or Leila's error! hahahahahaha
Didn't even think about this! I'll probably back mine up on our external harddrive, too, in case like Sew says my computer crashes...or should I say in case my husbands computer crashes, since mine already DID...oi. Technology has it out for me.
Ha, Sew, I thought of that, ha ha ha!!!!
I had no idea!!!
(I would have backed up Sew's blog first if I'd known!!)
Just did this! Thanks for the reminder.
I just did this, but when I opened the file on my computer, it was all in "another language". Please let me know if this is normal.
Thanks,
Julie
Huh, Julie! I've never actually OPENED the file! Interesting question!
So I did it- and it was English and HTML code. Is that what you have? Or is it another language, such as German or Spanglish? :)
Oh and definitely back up all your files on an external hard drive! I save my blog under my documents- and then I have a blog folder. My fabulous husband backs up all of our files the first SAturday of every month.
And HA! Leila! Mental note- if ever redecorating another blogger's blog you better "back that blog up" :)
Thanks for the suggestion! I wouldn't have know to do this!
Lauren,
Yeah, mine was English, but HTML code and I am wondering how you would repost any of this if the blog does crash? I am kinda stupid with computers.
Hey Julie! The HTML code is what makes it LOOK like your blog looks- rather than just with all the text on it. To bring your blog back to life, should you need to do so, you'd again go to SETTINGS then IMPORT BLOG. You'd select the file you saved previously, and then voala! Your blog is back! :)
I'm vowing to back mine up on the first day of every month.
