Freezer Meals

This is for you, Sew!  :)

Before Caeden Michael was born, I made several meals that could be doubled and frozen.  These have been life-savers with sweet Abigail!  We were incredibly blessed to have friends provide meals for a few weeks, but it was great to supplement and continue with my home-made freezer meals!

Some of the more obvious ones:

  • Spaghetti Sauce
  • Lasagna
  • Vegetable Soup
  • Chicken Noodle Soup
  • Navy Bean Soup
  • Cream of Wild Rice Soup- my favorite.... :)
Some others:

And don't forget desert:

  • Brownies
  • Fudge Pie
Note: Potato-leek soup does NOT freeze well.  Gross.

To make life even easier, I made a list of all the frozen meals and how many servings of each I had available.  When we eat something, I cross it off the list. This makes it easy to know what we have and when I'm running low!  Plus it makes me feel like I have a menu.  "Gee, honey...what can I whip up for you tonight?"  :)

What other meals freeze well?

Bon Appetite!

Chicken chimichangas... they are SOOOOOO quick and easy to make, you can make a ton at a time, and you can freeze them in bags and pull out as many as you want. Make a big batch of Spanish rice and a salad and you're set for days with sides, as well.

Chilie freezes well and is good now that the weather has turned cold.

One of the things I like to do, is make double of a recipe. Freeze one and eat one.

I have a great chicken enchillada recipe that freezes well

I like to make a big batch of muffins (healthy or unhealthy your choice) for grab and go snacks... you pull them right from the freezer individually and they are defrosted in 10-20 minutes while you are on your way to wherever you are going.

I love to freeze all soups in individual serving sizes whenever I make a pot. Most recent - beef vegetable with alphabet noodles from Publix.

We just used up our last frozen meal this week, but mainly to make room for all the Thanksgiving food because we are hosting my whole family...10 adults and 7 kids! should be crazy fun!

I agree about chili! It's perfect for freezing! :)
Cooking hamburger, separating it into about 1lb bags, and freezing it really helps for quick meal nights, too. :)

Love this post! I don't have a family yet, but frozen homemade meals are great for me on days I get home from work! I've been slowing stocking the freezer...most of the ideas I could share have already been shared...Right now i think I have pot pie and soups in the freezer. I also like to freeze muffins and cookies. (definitely the cookies so I don't eat them all right away!) :)
