Not really, but you'd think so the way I carry her around all of the time! I absolutely LOVE my baby carriers. I get to snuggle with my baby, talk to her, feel her, and still have my arms free! SHE gets to hear my heart beat, smell me, hear me, be engaged in what I'm doing and cuddle with Mama!
Currently I have a Moby wrap (on loan- thank you, thank you, thank you, Maria!) and a Beco (thank you Mom and Dad!). Here are some Moby pics.

For Christmas, my parents got us the Beco carrier! J prefers this one. It's very similar to the Ergo, and I really debated which one to get. In the end, I chose the Beco Gemini because you can wear baby on the front facing out. She likes this a lot, though we don't last for too long as it places all her weight in front of me.

Do any of you use a sling? I love the idea of it, but am afraid it will hurt my shoulder since Abigail is so heavy.
One last thing for you baby mamas...

I'm subscribing because I'm hoping someone will have an idea I haven't tried. Mary-Grace isn't too fond of carriers. :( I've tried the Moby, Maya Ring Sling, and a carrier similar to the Ergo (I can't remember the name). She doesn like the Moby or Maya because she likes too look out. She doesn't have quite enough head controll for that yet. I think she just finds the other carrier uncomfortable. I'm hoping this changes because having free hands would definitely be helpful. :) This little one wants to be held at all times while she is awake.
Oops. I forgot to subscribe. :)
Loved, loved, loved the Moby up until age 1 or so. At that point my kids loved to be carried AND to be explore on their own...at which point I primarily used the Ergo because of how easily I could get them in/out of it. While I found the Ergo comfortable, it was definitely not as comfortable as the Moby. Have I mentioned I love the Moby!?!?!
Moby and Ergo fan here. I love my Ergo now that Claire is 19 months.
She still prefers to be on the front, not on the back, though. I could get more done with her on my back, but it's still comfortable to have her on the front so I do it.
I used a pouch sling for my son Joe and I did like it, although I think it messed up my back and shoulder in ways that are still not completely resolved. I had not been introduced to the Moby yet, or I would have used it from the start.
When the older girls were born, the Baby Bjorn or a ring sling were pretty much the only options out there that I had heard of. I had a Bjorn and it killed my back when they were still as small as 12 pounds or so. I used to wear them around the house in a big ol' Kelty frame backpack carrier that we used for hiking! Wish I had had the Ergo then...
I had a Sleepy Wrap (like a Moby)for my son when he was little. He loved it because of the reflux and sometimes it was the only way he would nap is in it. DH didn't care much for it because of all the farbic.
We got a Ergo last summer and we all love it! Perfect for the zoo and shopping when he was too heavy to carry in the car seat, yet too small to sit up in the cart. I would still prefer to shop with the ErgoBaby. BUT my son would prefer to explore the aisle with dad.
We love the Maya wrap starting at about 7-8 months old when baby gets nosy and wants to look around a lot more, we put baby on hip and the sling takes most of the weight... DH and I find it very comfy, there is a bit of a learning curve as you find just the right spot for YOU either higher or lower on you shoulder/more on chest...
The 1 yo old I hope to adopt this summer will need surgery/therapy before he can walk, so I will be babyweaering much more than I usually do at that age ( my perky bio kids usually start being annoyed with the sling about 18 months)..
I also have a Babyhawk that looks a lot like the second sling in your pics, it is great for traveling/hiking with a toddler who wants to walk a lot but you need to move them along at times... We are taking our 6 kids (18 down to 2) camping/canoeing in the Boundary waters next month and that carrier will come along!
Bella loved the video and was dancing like crazy!!
I love my Moby, but haven't used it in MONTHS! I should get it out and try it again since Bella is attached at my hip anyway!
I like the Moby. It took me forever to get the hand of the maya wrap (ring sling). Now that we are better with that one, it works the best for us when we have to run into a store, etc since the little guy isn't sitting upright yet. I have to fly alone in July and I think I am going to take the maya wrap because I can put that on one handed while I am holding him. There are a ton of slings. Maybe there is a sling group near you? We have DuP.age County Sli.ngers near us which is a mom's sling group. You can rent slings from them to try a variety out.
Karen- I hope you get some helpful advice! I didn't take any pics of it, but Abigail could face out in the Beco at 3 months when we got it. Maybe that's your answer? (Only the Beco Gemini allows this.)
Char- I"m with you. I was intimidated by all the fabric, but I love it so much!
Maria- you're the best ever for introducing me to the Moby and lending me yours!!! Abigail and I thank you!
Mrs. B- I've heard GREAT things about the Sleepy wrap!!
Dobrovits Family- Are you saying you had the Maya AND a sling or you used the Maya as a sling? I'm looking for something that will allow me to carry Abigail on my hip but won't hurt my shoulder. What kind of sling did you use? Storing up Treasures (blog on my side bar) has good advice for carrying older babies.
Hi Lauren - yes, the Maya Wrap is a ring sling and I use it mostly for supported hip carry of babies after7 months or so... They show how to do comfortably on their DVD/ instructions... Lots of women put it on "backwards" so the rings are BEHIND their shoulder on the top of their back, with baby on opposite hip...
Maybe I am just used to it, I have no problem with rings in the front just below my shoulder for babies up to about 25 pounds...

Wow! 23.5 lbs? Ryleigh is 26! And she is 2 and a half years old! Maddie weighs the same as Ryleigh- and she a year old. Ryleigh is just skinny, but tall. :)
Pretty baby Abigail! :)
Ihave so many I'm embarrassed to admit it! My favorites are the ergo, Moby and ring sling. :)
I received an Ergo as a gift last year and I love love love it! When Rosie was a newborn I tried many carriers. I have pretty much used Ergo exclusively with Augie. I can still wear my almsot 4 year old on my back in an Ergo.
I love the Moby, but we seem to be in a little bit of transition with it. He's too big to curl up in it like a newborn, but his head is still a little too bobbly for him to be calm upright. I'm anxious to be able to swing him over to my hip! And we have an Ergo that we haven't even busted out yet--better get on that!
