Dear Daddy

This year you celebrated your first Father's Day and I could not be happier to be the one who made you an official Daddy!!!  You are the Daddy of my dreams and I could not love you more!  Mommy tells me I light up like a Christmas tree when you come home.  I get so excited and crawl to you as fast as I can.  Sometimes I get distracted by a piece of fuzz on the floor, but that's only because I imagine it would taste SO GOOD...if Mommy would ever just let me eat it.  (Come on, Mom!)

I'm so happy my name means "A Father's Joy" because it makes me feel so content and joyful that I am your joy.  I see you looking at me with wonder and awe, and I know I will always be cherished by you.  The first time you held me, I didn't know people could smile so big!  You were SO happy!  I love that I made you so happy!

Remember my first bath?  Wow.  I'm so glad you were taking charge.  Mommy didn't know what she was doing!  You were such a pro!  Confident and bold.  Mommy can really depend on you!

You have taken such good care of me.  You even change my cloth diapers!  I know you don't like it.  It's okay.  It makes me feel extra special that you do it anyway.

I love to be with you- whether we're playing, swinging, or you're throwing me up in the air!  I even love just hanging out!

But I have to say, my favorite thing to do with you is cuddle up and take a nap together.  Sometimes you're planning to sneak away after you help me fall asleep.  I know.  But you just cannot resist my charms and cuddleyness!  (I'm 9 months...I get to make up words!)

So happy first Father's Day, Daddy!
I love you with all my heart!

Love, Abigail

I wrote the following in our "Dear Birth Mother" letter years ago and it has come true one hundred ten percent!

"I knew when I met J that I wanted this man to be the father of my children.  I knew he would love them with the same intensity and freedom with which he loves me.  I knew he would teach our children to love Christ and develop good character.  I knew he would get down on his knees and play board games or build with blocks.  I knew he would get down on his knees to have a heart to heart discussion when our children needed correction or encouragement.  I knew I would want our children to imitate him and strive to be or meet a man like him.  I knew J would be an amazing husband and father.  I love being married to him, and look forward to seeing him embrace the role of Daddy. "

J, you have whole-heartedly embraced the role of Daddy, and I'm even more in love with you as a result.  You truly are a wonderful father!  Thank you for showing both of us a Father's Love!!  We love you!
