June 10, J and I celebrated five years of marriage! Unfortunately we were unable to celebrate then, but were able to have a night out Saturday night. It was our first date night since Abigail! I thought I'd be really nervous about leaving her, but knew she was in such capable and loving hands that I felt at ease. (Thanks, Martha!!)
We drove out to a wonderful restaurant on the water. It has an outstanding reputation for amazing food and ambiance. My heart leapt at the hour wait and I didn't know if I could be away from Abigail that long, but we sat at the bar and had a drink and the time flew by. I forgot how much fun dates were!
While we were at dinner we reflected on the last year. Thanks to my friend Kate's advice we started a notebook to keep records of our marriage. We recorded blessings and struggles from the last year, as well as examples of God's faithfulness. Every year we'll look back on the previous year on our anniversary and record how our lives have grown closer together. I look forward to being able to read past years of God's faithfulness and blessings!!
