Our Family's Mission Statement!

We, the ______ family, strive for PEACE in Christ.  We will

PRIORITIZE Jesus first, Others second and Yourself last for true J.O.Y. (Phil 2:3)
"ENCOURAGE one another and build one another up",
"for life and death are in the power of the tongue."
(1 Thes. 5:11 and Proverbs 18:21)
ACT with obedience and self-control, even when you don't feel like it.
ACT with gentleness and kindness, even when wronged or frustrated.

(John 13:34-35)

COOPERATE with each other and with God's grace.(Eph. 4:3)

ENTRUST yourself to the Lord.(Phil. 4:6-7)

We created this mission statement over the last month after reading the idea in Gregory Popcak's book Parenting with Grace.  We can sum up the mission in a word, PEACE, or five words: PRIORITIZE, ENCOURAGE, ACT, COOPERATE and ENTRUST.

We chose "peace" after reading, Searching for and Maintaining Peace by Father Jaques Philippe.  He writes, "The more our soul is peaceful and tranquil, the more God is reflected in it, the more His image expresses itself in us, the more His grace acts through us."  What better way to "Magnify the Lord" then through peaceful spirits!

Each letter has a small explanation and a memory verse attached.  We tried to make it simple enough for little ones to understand, but with enough depth to encourage meditation and conversation.  We plan to somehow frame and display this on our home, and somehow incorporate it into our family prayer time.  We want our home to be filled with the peace of Christ- both as individuals and as a family.  We are so excited about having a mission statement!!!
