5...4...3...2...1...BLAST OFF!!!

Our Abigail has developed a real love for astronauts and the Apollo mission!  It all began with a counting book which featured "four astronauts".  She was fascinated with them, so J showed her the landing on the moon.  That sealed the deal.  All day long I hear "A-NAS!"  (astronauts)  "MOON!"  "WALK!"  "FLAG!" "PIECE!"  (as in- moon rocks- a piece of the moon)  We bought her some books on space to further her interest.  Normally she doesn't take to new books immediately; she needs time to warm up to them.  But these books she loved from the start!  That first night we read them four times in a row, then she woke up in the middle of the night and insisted we read them again before she could go back to sleep!  She's one!!

MOON!!!
She has her serious face on.  Astronauts are no joking matter!

We are incredibly blessed to live a mile away from an air museum which features a space exhibit.  We now go at least once and often two or three times a week!  Here they are on Father's Day.

Looking at a "piece" of the moon!
Funny story- at the grocery store an older lady heard Abigail talking about the moon and looked incredulous.  I laughed and told her "she really loves astronauts!"  The lady then leaned down into Abigail's face and said,

"WELL HONEY, WHEN YOU GROW UP, YOU CAN MARRY ONE!!!"

Are you kidding me?!  HAHAHAHAHA!

I love my little astronaut-to-be!!!

Kids are amazing in how much they can take in and learn. Abigail appears to be hanging on every word J is reading to her.

Aren't you amazed at how early their interests show up? I wonder why I had any career angst at all since it seem so obvious from near birth what my kids are interested in. So far I have one baker, one engineer and a future nun. Way to be a supportive Mom and Dad!

I was so excited to read this post! Abigail is so cute! I love that she loves astronauts! That girl dreams big!

Show this video to Abigail. It is one of Bella's favorite songs and she can sing every word, even without the music to go with it!

I love stories like this! My nephew has a fascination with the ancient world. Seriously, the kid knows more about ancient Roman gladiators than anyone I know lol. The lady's comment about marrying an astronaut cracks me up... as if girls can't BE astronauts? What century is she in? lol. :) Love reading updates of your family!

Ha! Cracked up at the story at the end. Good thing Miss Abigail has a mom and dad who will empower and encourage her dreams! I LOVE that she's fascinated by astronauts! By the way, is that the Texas counting book? Sounds like one we have--it has astronauts (for NASA in Houston), longhorns, stars, etc.
