On staying at home...

Since we moved in October, I did not get a teaching job this semester. My plan was to get settled, then either sub or tutor or something like that. I figured I'd try to get plugged in and get a job in the spring or AT LEAST next fall.

However, it's only been two weeks, but I LIKE staying at home! And just as importantly- JC likes me staying at home! The other night at dinner, he commented that he doesn't want me to go back to work! It made me feel so cherished and provided for.

...which led me to reflect on our roles. Since we've been here (again, only two weeks, I know) our marriage is in a really good place. After JC told me he likes me being home, I commented that it seems our roles are more clear this way. We each have our roles and responsibilities. He provides and I take care of the home-front! Sounds obvious-and is- but with me being more relaxed, it seems easier to follow Paul's command in Ephesians 5: 'Husbands, LOVE your wives and wives RESPECT your husbands.' We've always known this to be true, and used this at our wedding, but being subordinate is hard! And perhaps bringing home a paycheck made it subconsciously *extra* hard for me. I'm pretty strong-willed, so being subordinate is a major challenge in obedience!

The other great thing about being home is that I'm able to relax with JC in the morning and make breakfast. I'm here when he comes home for lunch so get another hour with him mid-day. Then he usually comes home fairly early and I'm here then, too! So I'm getting extra time with him!

All in all- I love it!
