Just call me a lobbyist...

Since the initial bailouts last year under President Bush, JCand I have grown increasingly alarmed at the direction of our country. We have been busy writing emails to our Representatives and I went to a 9-12 Rally in September, but it never felt like enough. We have been praying that God would show us WHERE and HOW we can make a difference specifically.

Then Friday night, we watched Glenn Beck and when it was over, Hannity had just begun and Rep Michele Bachmann was on. We love this Minnesota Representative and decided to watch that segment. She was talking about the health care bill and implored people to come to Washington on Thursday, November 5 and meet on the Capitol steps at noon. She promised to march us through Congress and let them see that we mean business! It immediately resonated with my heart and Jaris confirmed it. He looked at me and said, "GO!" All weekend, I've been hesitant, but he has been firm in his belief that I should go and do this. So last night I bought the ticket! Just call me a lobbyist; I'm headed to Washington! :)

In the meantime, I'm doing my homework and trying to study up on this bill. Perhaps the most telling is that our government has already taken over THIRTY PERCENT of private wealth in the last YEAR. (banks, insurance companies, mortgage companies, Chrysler, GM, student loans...) Health care is one sixth of our economy. So a government takeover of health care would lead to FORTY EIGHT PERCENT of our economy being government controlled. This is fascism, not capitalism.

End of life counseling is back in this bill. Tax increases. Adding to the deficit when every man, woman and child already owes $344,157. 5.5 million jobs lost according to President Obama's economic advisor Christina Rohmer. Tens of millions of people will be forced into this government plan, according to the CBO, collapsing the private insurance industry and creating a single payer system (which is what those in power now really want anyway!) But the worst part is that this twenty pound, two-thousand page HEALTH CARE bill fails to protect life and instead destroys it via abortion. The Capps Amendment's language does not protect all human life and instead mandates abortion services. How can we care for life if we fail to protect it at its most vulnerable stage?

So I'm headed to Washington! I'm nervous and excited and have no idea what to expect! Pray for me and for all the people meeting on the steps of the Capitol!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Lauren - That's very impressive that you are taking such an active role in standing up for what you believe in. You will have to educate me more on your position - I tend to go the other way. How does the bill mandate abortion? I can understand some of the concerns, but how do you think we should deal with the fact that so many people can't afford health insurance?

Have fun in Washington! We will be waiting on your report.
