Pottery Barn KIDS Catalog!!!!!!!!!
OK- now I do periodically check their website, but I've never gotten their catalog. Now the KIDS catalog shows up in the mail???
HOW DO THEY KNOW????
Of course I sat right down and looked through it gleefully. (A girl can dream!) But then I saw it... One of the new collections is the same name as our (hopeful) little one!!! It's the same name the birth mom picked! It's spelled slightly different, but otherwise the same!
My reaction? I wanted to pick up the phone and call her! I knew she'd be excited about it, too.
And then it hit me. That's the opportunity the open adoption offers. When baby boy does something precious or cute, she'll think it's just as precious or cute! She'll *get* it and it won't get old! And that made me really happy and excited.
Who knew God could speak to my heart through Pottery Barn.
This just means I need to receive this catalog regularly now!
And since we're on the subject of catalogs, have y'all seen THIS? My friend Lisa over at Cheerfully Chaotic sent me the link and I've been hooked ever since! The writer takes pictures from catalogs and creates captions for them. She has two characters: Elaine and Gary who live in the picture and through their voices she makes fun of the random things they place in the staged pictures. It is hilarious. They post a new one every day. Enjoy!

Of COURSE God speaks through catalogs! That's why I bought all of those pillows for the bed. Granted, he spoke via my MIL, too, given that as I was looking at a catalog she was telling me I had to buy them or else. (Or else she wouldn't teach me how to make wonderful food? Or listen as I beg her to tell me how to understand my husband at times? She and God didn't specify the "or else" part)
Love this! How awesome! By the way, one of my good friends has struggled with endo and IF for 10 years, and they just adopted a baby girl from New York State, and NY just happens to have the longest period where the birth mother can change her mind and legally fight to get her baby back. They have 2 days to go until the time period is up, and my friend has been so nervous. She just can't imagine how someone could give up this little girl. They have an open adoption, and she says she has absolutely not concrete reason to worry, but it hasn't prevented her anxiety. I started thinking about you when she was talking to me about this, and I told her what you said about loving that little boy enough to let God's will be done. And she really loved that thought! She is also a faithful Catholic, and your words really spoke to her. So thank you for sharing that! I love the blog world! :)
Love this post! Especially through PB catalogs!
Very exciting!
I'm not surprised you heard God speak through a catalog because you just seem so in tune to His voice everywhere. Which is a truly awesome gift to have! You're an inspiration to me to look for God in the ordinary things in life, because He's always there.
Okay and now I just have to say that that link did me in!!! Oh my goodness, I was laughing so hard tears were streaming down my face and I could barely get the words out as I tried to read the captions to my husband. I think he thought I was losing my mind! And then all the laughing gave me abdominal pain and I had to stop reading! Haha!! Thanks for sharing it!
I love this and how awesome that the name the BM chose is one of the collections in the catalog. The link was hilarious! Thanks for sharing.

Love this post! I think god speaks to me through catalogs too. He's currently telling me I need to pairs of shoes from urban outfitters. :) love Lisa's blog too. I've been following hers ever since you first posted a link to it a few weeks ago. Love y'alla take on the world.
Oh, I do love this!!! :)
Umm...what couldn't God speak through a catalog?! ;) How awesome is that!!! I do love when God reveals wonderful things through otherwise, meaningless ways!
