The due date has moved from August 12 to August 22! And the countdown had JUST dropped below 20. Now it's back up to 29! RATS!!
Our birth mom is one active girl! She runs, swims and does yoga regularly- not to mention the activity of a young life! She's been put on bed-rest for three weeks to give him more calories. I'm going to bring her some food next week and am making a list of calorie-rich food. Any good suggestions?
We weren't able to meet the birth dad this week, but are hoping to soon. It probably won't be this week, either, but perhaps the next week?
The good news is I just had my first phone conversation with this beautiful young woman and it felt very natural and easy! (Except she called me "ma'am". Twice! :)) I'm hoping bringing her food and hanging out a little bit will give us the opportunity to get to know each other better.
My family was in town all week and we had such a great time. I hated to see them go, but am hoping and praying they'll have a reason to come back soon!! It was a busy week, and I didn't get (make time for) as much prayer time as I need. I found myself taking my eyes off of Christ and onto our circumstances. Fear comes rushing in at those moments. We're headed to Adoration and Confession in an hour. I can hardly wait! I need some Jesus time!!
UPDATE!!!! I posted this and then saw THIS!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!! Praise the LORD!! Thank you, Father!!

Rats, rats, rats!
:(
Anyway, it'll give you more time to "save up sleep", which is a ridiculous notion.
:)
Haha, I got called "ma'am" the first phone conversation, too. Not to worry - within another phone call or two it felt like we had known each other our whole lives.
I think the fact that it felt natural is a fantastic sign.
The Ma'am thing is hilarious!!
I was given similar advice from another birthmom, too. Basically she said that before the baby comes, really try to focus on developing a relationship with b-mom without it always being about the baby. Talk about regular things you'd talk about with anyone .... (okay easier said than done!)
That really is SO hard when it gets this close to be told you have to wait LONGER. Every day just drags by ... Who knows, though? Maybe the baby will come early!! (I forgot, is he coming by c-section??)
On a happy note, perhaps the baby gaining weight will help him sleep longer at night he he:):) Bring over some pasta!!
Chills. I am just so excited for you. Can't wait to hear how everything goes, you must be so fired up. Can you even sleep?
Avocado.
Calorie rich breakfast... Horizon cream top vanilla yogurt with granola (they sell it in bulk at my store. don't know what you guys have. maybe it's in boxes too?) Anyway, it's delicious, calcium rich, and shouldn't cause heartburn.
You know with twins this was my focus... calories, protein, etc... A high calorie protein smoothie always gave me a lot of what I needed for the day - you know, the kind that body builders drink? I always did chocolate powder then added a banana and peanut butter to add nutrition and flavor... wonder how that would transport?
I know you will bring over something delicious and nutritious, so whatever you bring surely be a blessing!
Oh, I am so glad you posted this. I have been dying for an update but know you've been busy with your family.
I can't wait to hear more.
The girls are now thanking God for bringing you a baby in their prayers each night. I just feel like crying with Joy!
Sorry to hear about the due date changing.
I'm glad you'll get some time to spend with the birthmom and the advice about doing things for her that you would do for any friend or specifying why you are doing sounds like great advice.
Thanks for the update! Continue to keep us posted! Another thing you might think of doing is calling her before you leave, telling her you're stopping by the store on your way, and asking if there's anything she needs since she can't get out herself. Just a thought... :) You're so sweet to bring her a meal... sounds like y'all are off to a great start! I'm sorry the date has been pushed back; I know that must be very frustrating! I'm sure it's frustrating for her, too! Who knows, though, he may come 2 weeks early anyway! Love ya!
oh the countdown- do you have a paper chain yet??
Bringing her a meal sounds so lovely! I hope it affords you the perfect opportunity for a nice chat.
Thanks for the update!
