Caeden Michael

I think about him so often.  He's just a bit older than Abigail, so he just turned one, too!  For a long time I've been wanting to reach out to his Mom to check on her and let her know how our family has grown.  I wanted to- but just didn't have the "oomph" to do it.  Around his first birthday, prompted by the Holy Spirit, I sent her the following email.  (Note- she changed the spelling of Caeden at birth.)

I'm sure this is totally out of the blue for you- but I think about you and Caiden all the time and wonder how you're doing.  I can't believe he is a YEAR!!!!  Can you believe it?

Let me briefly update you on our situation.  Three days after I last talked to you, we found out about another match.  We were scared to try again so soon, but the Lord prompted our hearts to step out in faith.  Abigail Chiara was born September 12 and has been the absolute light of our lives.  She is pure joy and our hearts are bursting with love for her.  I've attached some pictures of our family.  She'll be a year next month and I can't believe how quickly it's flown by.

I think of you and Caiden so often.  We light a candle for you at Church each week and pray for you daily.  I'd love to hear an update on how you and Caiden are doing.  I'm so grateful for the short time I had with you and that we got to be a part of his birth in some small way.

I wasn't sure if she would respond, but she did.  Immediately and with enthusiasm!  She was so happy to hear that we hadn't been mad at her all this time and was so excited about Abigail.  She signed her email "With love and happiness."  Isn't that the sweetest?!

The email exchange was just what was needed to finish healing my heart.  I truly am glad I got to know her- and Caedin- and be a part of their lives.  And I'm filled with relief that both of us know there are no hard feelings- only love and prayers.  A year can bring a lot of healing...  Thanks be to the Divine Physician!!

There are times I think reading blogs is a waste of time. Then I read something like this and remember that I am learning SO MUCH from the amazing example of beautiful women like you. I love your heart.

Lauren this is amazing. Such a beautiful example of how when we focus solely on our hurts we can forget that others might be hurting too (like Caeden's mom who was worried you were mad at her). While the two hurts were different, the healing that you were able to share with one another is truly awe-some.
We, who visit this space, are blessed by your willingness to share your journey. Thank-you.
